The section includes the Traffic Engineering Research Laboratory (TERL) and supports FDOT district offices with the technical evaluation of transportation devices, standards, specifications, and research. The mission of the section is to accomplish the requirements of Florida Statute 316.0745 ensuring a safe, uniform and efficient highway system in Florida. All contractors, manufacturers or suppliers who intend to sell or install a transportation device (as described in Florida Statute316.0745) within the state of Florida must follow the Department's approval process as outlined here prior to its sale or installation.
