Traffic Engineering and Operations Office
Provide leadership and serve as a catalyst in becoming the national leader in senior mobility.
Improve the safety, access, and mobility of Florida's growing aging population.
The FDOT Safe Mobility for Life program is currently conducting a web-based survey to the planning and engineering divisions of local governments (cities and counties). This survey will determine the current level of roadway improvements on state and local roads and the availability of mature driver and pedestrian mobility programs at the local level.
Information will also be collected from the Florida League of Cities and the Florida Association of Counties to determine problem areas or concerns. Additional focus groups and interviews will be conducted in the near future with Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs), Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), and others to determine where the FDOT roadway improvement program have been implemented by local governments, where they have not, and what barriers exist to further action. A database will be created and used to identify the level of road improvements and to track the effectiveness of our implementation efforts.
