The following applications are available from the Surveying & Mapping Office; Windows-Electronic Field Book(EFB3), DOS-Electronic Field Book(EFB), Cadastral Electronic Field Book, Electronic Field Book Processor and VectorNT. If needed, a DOS-emulator can be found at the following DOSBox website.

*** EFB3 is not approved for immediate use on all FDOT projects. Prior to mobilizing the application on any FDOT project, regardless of project status (in-progress or planned), permission to use EFB3 must be obtained from the Surveying and Mapping Office of the District within which the project resides. Mobilization of EFB3 on Turnpike Enterprise projects requires an approval from the Surveying and Mapping Program Manager for the Turnpike Authority.***

For more information on EFB3 please see the EFB 3 page

EFB is a data collection package which was developed by the department. It is supported by the department's Surveying and Mapping office in Tallahassee. Development began in 1988, and Version 1 was put into production in 1989. EFB was designed to be a simple survey data collector, that interfaces with a fixed number of Total Station Instruments. EFB collects measurement data for radial survey, cross sections, and differential leveling. These data are post-processed by CAiCE or GEOPAK to produce finished surveys. EFB is a "DOS" program, and must be run in a "DOS" environment. The DOS computer that EFB runs on must have a 100% PC compatible serial port to operate correctly with the total station equipment (consult the EFB documentation for a listing of hardware known to run EFB correctly). At present, all development work has been stopped on EFB, and the version remains fixed at 2.55.

EFB User Guide - This guide is intended to describe the operation of the Electronic Field Book system on the hand-held computer for field operations.
EFB Processing System Handbook - A complete reference for use with the Electronic Field Book Data Processing System.
EFB Processing System Handbook - Technical Reference - A complete technical reference for use with the Electronic Field Book Data Processing System.

EFB is "freeware". You may download it free from the S&MO download page. User's documentation is included in the downloadable ZIP files.

NOTE TO USERS: The EFB files have been updated to support FDOT's transition back to "English" units

CEFB was developed by the University of Maine in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Land Management. CEFB was designed to be a Cadastral Electronic Field Book (hence the name CEFB) for taking measurements related to the cadastre. CEFB has been adapted for use a general survey data collection system, and is gaining popularity. CEFB is approved for work on department surveying projects; however the District Location Surveyor or District Survey Administrator must be consulted about CEFB's use prior to beginning work. Like EFB, CEFB is a "DOS" program that must run in a "DOS" environment. CEFB has fewer hardware restrictions concerning PC serial port compatibility and memory sizes. It also supports a more modern user interface, and has many features beyond that of EFB.

CEFB is "freeware". You may download it free from the S&MO download page. User's documentation is include in the downloadable ZIP files.

EFBP produces adjusted X, Y, Z coordinates from the raw field observations and attaches all the data tags included with the raw data. It uses rigorous least-squares algorithms and includes detailed statistical analyses of the results.

EFBP is available from the S&MO download page.. In addition, the software is bundled with both CAiCE and Geopak and they both have interfaces to EFBP.

VECTOR or VECTORNT is a least squares adjustment program for GPS vector observations. Vector(nt) is a parametric (observation equation) adjustment, and thus one is required to enter control information in addition to the vectors. Control information should be entered in latitude, longitude, and ellipsoidal height. The control information is then converted into geocentric coordinates for the adjustment process. Vector can also account for geoid/ellipsoid separation for orthometric height determination.

VECTOR is "freeware". You may download the version approved for work on department projects from the S&MO download page.
