-Open traffic railings for better view of the waterway
-Enhanced pedestrian/bicycle facilities
-Aesthetic Lighting
-Underdeck parking and pedestrian mall.

$10,000 per day incentive/disincentive
$2,000,000 "no-excuse" bonus
The 17th Street approach spans are made up of Twin Variable
Depth - Constant Slope Concrete Segmental Bridges built using a combination of Balanced
Cantilever and Progressive Cantilever Construction Methods. |
Bridge Info:
The new bridge increases the vertical clearance (from 25 feet to 55 feet - closed
position) and the channel width (from 100 feet to 125 feet). The bascule leaves span 210
feet from centerline of trunnion to centerline of trunnion. The counterweight is nestled
inside of the Carina Pier which allows for a simple rigid
connection to the segmental approach spans.
Cost: Permanent Bridge $62 million
Temporary Bridge $6 million
