The Field Operations Unit manages the statewide program for use of Department equipment on bridge foundation load tests for piles and drilled shafts. This unit also assists in the construction inspection of drilled shafts using the Shaft Inspection Device, the construction inspection of statnamic testing of piles or shafts using 30 MN reaction weights, the maintenance and management of the use of the Cone Penetrometer vehicle for cone penetration and dilatometer soundings at a particular site and the maintenance and operation of the depth density gauge, SPT calibration device and Vane Sheer Test.
