Pompano Service Plaza - Construction and Closure Information Florida’s Turnpike is about to begin an exciting new phase in their history, with the start of construction to renovate and rebuild the service plaza buildings. The first plaza to undergo this construction is the Pompano Service Plaza. Construction is slated to begin November 1, 2010. Unfortunately, during this time it is necessary for the restaurant building at the plaza to close in order to construct a new combined restaurant/convenience store at the existing facility. The plaza is scheduled to remain closed until Fall 2012. During the construction period, Dunkin' Donuts, Earl of Sandwich and Villa Pizza brands will be unavailable at the plaza. However, the existing Shell branded fuel station/convenience store at the Pompano Service Plaza will remain open throughout the construction period, and Shell branded products will be available at all times, 24-hours a day. The Shell branded fuel station that will be open 24-hours offers a wide range of products, such as: Fresh hot coffee and five flavors of Cappuccino Most Coca-Cola and Pepsi products along with water, energy drinks and juices Snack products, candies and cold sandwiches Gift shop items such as batteries, cell phone accessories, newspapers, medicine, sunglasses and tobacco products Truck parking will also remain open at the service plaza, but commercial busses and school busses are discouraged from using the plaza due to the limited facilities. Thank you for your patience as the renovations take place.
