The Florida Bicycle Touring Calendar lists major rides of interest scheduled in coming months.  Some touring clubs post ride maps on their websites; club links can be accessed by region at the Florida Bicycle Association's clubs page.

Touring cyclists can camp at many Florida State Parks.

Bike Florida annually conducts a week-long regional tour.

The "Great Outdoors Recreation Pages" information on "Biking Florida" includes descriptions of three regional tour (descriptions for the first two tours can also be found at Pedaling.com by searching for Florida rides):

  1. Seven Hills to the Sea in the Panhandle (note route correction: ferry arrangements across the Apalachicola River at Blountstown are no longer needed, as the new 2.6-mile-long SR 20 bridge makes ample provision for cyclists and hikers)
  2. Florida Springs in north central Florida
  3. Everglades to the Keys
(We can furnish paper copies of these.)

Another way to learn about local rides is to visit a local bike shop. Shop personnel often know weekend ride start locations and club hot-line numbers, and may have club newsletters and event ride brochures in their information racks.

Prevailing winds

The National Climatic Data Center publishes a summary report of historic data for monthly mean prevailing wind directions and speeds.
