In Florida, Transportation Safety Engineering is conducted at statewide and district or regional levels.

    The District Transportation Safety Engineering functions include the following:

  • Analyses of specific locations to identify potential safety improvement and initiate safety solutions.
  • Review fatal crashes to determine if engineering actions is needed.
  • Review pavement friction performance to determine if the skidding problem warrants corrections.
  • Provide Safety Engineering analyses and reviews for all FDOT projects.
