Outdoor Advertising Permit:
A state sign permit is required for signs visible to roads on the State Highway System. A completed Application for Outdoor Advertising Permit (form 575-070-04) must be submitted to the Department for review. Each sign facing (side of sign) requires a separate application. All permits are renewed annually.

Outdoor Advertising License:
If you are advertising a business other than your own on your sign, you must also obtain an outdoor advertising license. A completed Outdoor Advertising License Application (form 575-070-02) and the license fee of $300.00 are required. Licenses are renewed annually.

Permit Cancellation:
If you no longer maintain a sign at a permitted location and wish to cancel the permit, you must execute an ODA Permit Cancellation Certification (form 575-070-12).  You may cancel a permit at any time by submitting form 575-070-12; however, if you wish to cancel between October 1 and the date you submit your renewal payment, you should submit form 575-070-12 with your renewal payment for any remaining permits you have.

Permit Transfer:
If you are buying an outdoor advertising sign, you must have the permit transferred to your account. Only valid permits may be transferred. To transfer a permit you must complete an ODA Permit Transfer Request (form 575-070-25). Both the buyer and seller must execute this form with original signatures. This form must be submitted to the department along with payment of a transfer fee of $5.00 per permit.  The maximum fee for a transfer of 20 permits or more is $100.00.  Please note that permits cannot be transferred after December 1 unless they have been renewed by payment of the permit renewal fee and any applicable penalty in addition to the transfer fee.

Replacement Tags:
The law requires that you display, on each sign structure, the metal permit tag issued for that sign facing. If a valid permit exists for the sign facing and the permit tag is not properly displayed on the sign, you will receive a Notice of Noncompliance. If the permit tag has been lost, stolen, destroyed, etc., it will be necessary to obtain a replacement tag. You may obtain a replacement tag by submitting an ODA Permit Replacement Tag Request (form 575-070-01), along with a fee of $12.00 per tag.
