Roadway Design
| The Design Exception and Design Variation Handbook
is under construction. A Design Exception is a
documented decision to design a highway element or a
segment of highway to design criteria that do not meet
minimum values or ranges established for that highway or
project (Mitigation Strategies; 2007). This manual will
be a comprehensive guide for designers to evaluate
safety, analyze alternatives, and document decisions
that fall below the minimum criteria established by FDOT
and/or FHWA. The analytical tools for use in these
decisions is evolving and changing, which will require
periodic changes to this manual. We ask for your
patience. The finished product will be worth the wait.
Sincerely,
QA Staff |
