Miami Intermodal Center
  • This project is a main transportation hub providing connectivity for all forms of ground transportation in the City of Miami. Work also includes major roadway improvements for NW 42nd Avenue/ Le Jeune Road.
  • Project start date: July 2007
  • Project estimated completion: 2012
  • Contractor is MCM, Corp.
SR 112/I-195 Roadway Project: From SR 9A/I-95/NW 10 Avenue to Biscayne Bay
  • Construction includes replacing the curb and guardrail in the median with a concrete barrier wall; widening the bridges, upgrading the bridge railings and adding barrier wall along the roadway; widening the roadway at several locations; building a retaining wall system; adding eastbound and westbound auxiliary lanes from I-95 to North Miami Avenue; rebuilding the North Miami Avenue exit ramp; replacing sections of the communications system (ITS); installing new signs and traffic signals; relocating and adding landscaping; and improving the riding surface of the road.

SR 959/SW 57 Avenue: From SW 8 Street to SW 24 Street
  • This roadway construction project will consist of the following: Repaving and restriping SW 57 Avenue from SW 24 Street to SW 8 Street; Constructing new sidewalks along both the west side and east side of SW 57 Avenue; Installing curb and gutter on the west side of SW 57 Avenue; Adding bicycle lanes going northbound and southbound on SW 57 Avenue; Removing trees that conflict with the installation of new drainage structures throughout the project; Installing new traffic signals at the SW 24 Street intersection; Lengthening the existing turn lanes and creating a left-turn only lane at the SW 8 Street intersection for traffic turning from northbound SW 57 Avenue to westbound SW 8 Street; Increasing the lengths of the right and left turn lanes for southbound traffic on SW 57 Avenue to turn onto SW 24 Street; Installing new trees on the east side of SW 57 Avenue.

NW 25th Street Viaduct Project: From State Road 826 to NW 89 Court
  • This project is reconstructing and widening NW 25th Street and constructing a new viaduct. Work also includes signalization, landscaped median, improved lighting and drainage, water and sewer mains and pedestrian features.
  • Project start date: May 2012
  • Project estimated completion: November 2015
  • Contractor is Astaldi Construction Corporation
SR A1A/Harding Avenue Roadway Project: From Indian Creek Drive to south of 75 Street
  • This project includes his project includes replacing sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; partially rebuilding a small section of roadway; leveling several driveways to match the roadway; installing trench drains and several underground drainage structures; updating signalization; adding a bicycle lane; repaving and restriping the roadway; placing decorative pavement at crosswalks; updating signage and pavement markings; and eliminating nine parking spaces between 75 Street and 69 Street.

SR A1A/Collins Avenue/Harding Avenue Roadway Project: Northbound along Collins Avenue from 75 Street to Harding Avenue. Southbound along Harding Avenue from Bal Harbour Shops to 94 Street
  • This project includes replacing sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and pedestrian ramps; constructing sections of new sidewalk; closing several existing driveways that are no longer in use; installing drainage structures on Collins Avenue at 88 Street; updating lighting and signalization; adding a bicycle lane; repaving and restriping the roadway; placing decorative pavement at crosswalks; and updating signage and pavement markings
  • Project start date: April 2012
  • Project estimated completion: January 2013
  • Contractor is Weekley Asphalt Paving, Inc.
SR A1A at Collins Avenue Intersection Enhancement Project
  • This project includes installing new traffic signals at the intersection of Collins Avenue and 13 Street -- there are currently no signals at this intersection; installing new pedestrian signals at the four corners of the intersection, including audible pedestrian signals to cross Collins Avenue; repaving and restriping the intersection; and updating the signage and pavement markings.

SR 826/Palmetto Expressway Landscaping Project: From NW 22 Avenue to NW 8 Avenue
  • This project includes planting a mix of large and small plants along the Palmetto Expressway at the following locations: Along the north and south sides of the Palmetto Expressway between NW 22 Avenue and NW 19 Avenue and from NW 18 Avenue to NW 17 Avenue; Along the north side of the Palmetto Expressway between NW 16 Avenue to just before NW 15 Avenue, from NW 15 Avenue to the bridge at NW 13 Avenue/NW 12 Avenue, after the bridge at NW 13 Avenue/NW 12 Avenue to NW 10 Court, and from NW 9 Court to NW 8 Avenue

SR 826/Palmetto Expressway Landscaping Project: From SW 32 Street to SW 16 Street
  • This project includes planting a mix of large and small plants along the Palmetto Expressway at the following locations: Along the northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps of the Palmetto Expressway interchange at Coral Way; Along the west side of the Palmetto Expressway behind the existing noise wall between SW 32 Street and SW 28 Street, at SW 19 Street and between SW 17 Terrace and SW 17 Street; At the center median on Coral Way, just east of the Palmetto Expressway

SR 826/Palmetto Expressway Landscaping Project: From NW 62 Street to NW 81 Street
  • This project includes planting a mix of large and small plants along the Palmetto Expressway at the following locations: Along the northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps of the Palmetto Expressway interchange at NW 74 Street; Along the east and west sides of the Palmetto Expressway between NW 66 Street to NW 71 Street, and from north of the Metrorail to NW 81 Street; At the center median on NW 74 Street, just east of the Palmetto Expressway

SR 968/West Flagler Street Bridge over the Miami River between NW North River Drive and SW South River Drive
  • This bridge project will consist of repairing the concrete and the structural steel on the bridge; painting the structural steel of the bridge; and replacing the navigation protection system surrounding the bridge pillars.
  • Project start date: January 2012
  • Project estimated completion: September 2012
  • Contractor is M & J Construction Company of Pinellas County, Inc.
SR 934/NE 79 St over the Intracoastal Waterway
  • This project will consist of repairing the concrete and steel structures underneath the bridge. And painting of the bridge is also included.

SR 986/Sunset Drive Roadway Project: From SW 84 Place to SW 69 Avenue
  • This project includes repaving and restriping the roadway; narrowing sections of the center median along the roadway to provide a wider outside lane to accommodate bicycle access; installing sections of new sidewalk and pedestrian ramps; replacing curb and gutter at various locations throughout the center median; installing several drainage structures; signalization enhancements; leveling several existing driveways to match the roadway; removing trees along the roadway that violate safety standards; updating the signage and pavement markings; and including adding Share the Road signs for bicyclists.
  • Project start date: October 2011
  • Project estimated completion: June 2012
  • Contractor is General Asphalt Co., Inc.
SR 5/South Dixie Highway/US 1 Roadway Project: From SW 284 Street to SW 304 Street
  • The project includes rebuilding the roadway; widening sections of the roadway; widening the bridge over the C-103 canal; restoring the C-103 canal banks; installing median traffic separators at various locations; installing a water main across the C-103 canal; installing new sidewalks and driveways; leveling existing sidewalks and driveways to match the roadway; installing curb and gutter; upgrading lighting, traffic and pedestrian signals; and repaving and restriping the roadway.
  • Project start date: February 2011
  • Project estimated completion: November 2012
  • Contractor is Atlantic Civil, Inc.
SR 5/Brickell Avenue/US 1 Roadway Project: From SE 25 Road to SE 5 Street
  • This project includes repairing the existing concrete pavement and improving the riding surface of the road; installing a new pump station between SE 12 Street and SE 13 Street to improve the roadway’s drainage between SE 14 Street to just south of SE 12 Street; installing a new water main and sewer lines to improve the existing system as part of a joint participation agreement with the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department; repairing the sidewalk and curb and gutter as needed; repaving and restriping the existing asphalt pavement from just north of SE 10 Street to SE 5 Street; adding left turn lanes along SE 15 Road at the intersection Brickell Avenue – there will also be new traffic signals at this location; upgrading existing street lights from SE 15 Road to SE 5 Street; installing new signing and pavement markings throughout the project, including adding share the road markings for cyclists; upgrading several pedestrian ramps; installing new decorative pedestrian crosswalks at several intersections; and adding a new unsignalized crosswalk at SE 14 Terrace and completing the crossings at SE 13 Street, SE 10 Street and SE 8 Street.
