State Road 70 from the Okeechobee County line east for 5.8 miles
- State Road 70 is being widened from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway. Work is underway on the north and south sides of the existing travel lanes.
- All lanes are open through Friday, Feb. 3.

State Road 70 from Summerlin Road westward for 4.3 miles in rural western St. Lucie County
- State Road 70 is being widened from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway.
- One lane of SR 70 will be closed at various locations in either direction
Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. each day. SR 70 is a ‘No
Passing” zone from .8 miles east of Summerlin Road to 4.2 miles west of
Summerlin Road. The posted speed limit in this area is 45 mph.

State Road 70 (Okeechobee Road) from Turnpike Entrance to Peters Road
- This project includes adding one
lane in each direction and reconstruction existing lanes on State Road 70
(Okeechobee Road), constructing a raised median with curb and gutter, adding
sidewalk to both sides of the road, landscaping improvements to the median and
outside shoulders of the road, highway lighting, installing new road signs and
upgrading traffic signals.
- One eastbound lane will be closed from the Florida’s Turnpike entrance to Crossroads
Parkway nightly Sunday night, Jan. 29, through Thursday night Feb. 2, between 8:30 p.m.
and 7 a.m. each night.

State Road 70 from the (Okeechobee Road and Virginia Avenue) from Jenkins Road to US 1
- Improvements being made in this 3.6-mile-long project include removing old
asphalt and repaving the existing roadway, widening turn lanes on Virginia
Avenue at 25th Street, installing new sidewalk and upgrading
existing sidewalk sections, installing new curb and gutter at various
locations, modifying existing guardrail and installing new guardrail at
additional locations, installing new road signs, upgrading traffic and
pedestrian signals, installing landscaping and irrigation.
- One lane may be closed in either direction at the SR 70/25th Street intersection Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
- Project start date:
- Project estimated completion: Summer 2012
I-95 from SR 70 (Okeechobee Road/Exit 129) at Fort Pierce to State Road 614 (Indrio Road/Exit 138)
- Construction is underway to widen I-95 in this area. The project includes adding two lanes in
each direction, removing old asphalt and repaving the existing lanes,
upgrading bridges and interchanges within the project limits, upgrading
traffic signals at the interchanges and installing new highway signs.
- The speed limit on I-95 through this construction zone has been lowered to
60 MPH. Motorists should be alert for slow moving construction vehicles
entering and leaving the travel lanes.
- One lane will be closed in each direction on I-95 between SR 70
(Okeechobee Road/Exit 129) at Fort Pierce to State Road 614 (Indrio Road/Exit 138)
overnight Sunday, Jan. 29 through Thursday, Feb. 2, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night.

I-95 from State Road 614 (Indrio Road/Exit 138) to the St. Lucie/Indian River County Line
- I-95 is being widened from Indrio Road to the ST. Lucie/Indian River county line. Improvements in this
project include: adding one lane in each direction; removing old asphalt and repaving the existing lanes;
upgrading the Indrio Road Bridge, interchange ramps (Exit 138) and traffic signals; and installing new
highway signs.
- The speed limit on I-95 through this construction zone will be lowered from 70
MPH to 60 MPH. Motorists should be alert for slow moving construction vehicles
entering and leaving the travel lanes. All lanes are open through Friday, Jan. 27.
- All lanes are open through Friday, Feb. 3.

State Road 716 (Port St. Lucie Boulevard) at US 1 in Port St. Lucie
- Improvements will be
made in this intersection including traffic signal work, removing old asphalt
and repaving the existing road, installing new signs and pavement markings.
- All lanes will be open.

- Project estimated completion: January 2012
Sunrise Boulevard from Virginia Avenue to Ohio Avenue in Fort Pierce
- Improvements being made in this area include removing old asphalt and repaving the existing
roadway, pedestrian ramp upgrades to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards,
construction of new sidewalk and construction of a gutter from Orange Avenue to Avenue B.
- All lanes are open.
- Project estimated completion: All three projects will be completed in June.
- Project estimated completion: Early 2012
State Road 713 (Kings Highway) from Indrio Road to Spanish Lakes Boulevard
- Improvements being made in this area include removing old asphalt and
repaving the existing roadway, widening to add turn lanes, drainage
improvements and adding sidewalk with ADA ramps on the west side from
Winter Garden to Portofino Shores and adding pedestrian signals to the existing
traffic signals at Winter Garden Parkway.
- Sunrise will be closed to all traffic from Virginia Avenue to Oleander Avenue Monday,
Jan. 30 through Friday, Feb. 3, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily to install drainage pipes,
excavate swales, install sidewalks and reconstruct concrete driveway connections. Traffic
will be detoured via Oleander Boulevard.
