  • Blackwater River Bridge Repair and Rehabilitation project
  • Project start date: September 2011
  • Estimated completion: spring 2012
  • Contractor: M&J Construction Co. of Pinellas
State Road 281 (Avalon Boulevard) from I-10 to a point south of the Moors Lodge
  • Reconstructing the roadway from two to four lanes Also included in the contract will be drainage improvements, sidewalk construction, a new bridge built over Mulatto Bayou, minor side road improvements, installation of high mast lighting at I-10, new signs and pavements markings.
  • Project start date: February 2011
  • Estimated completion: summer 2013
  • Contractor: APAC-Midsouth, Inc.
State Road 87
  • Improvements will include; reconstruction of the road from a two to four-lane divided highway, a new bridge over Dean Creek; stormwater management ponds, drainage and safety improvements. Fencing, landscaping, new signs and pavement markings and installation of guardrails are also part of the project. This project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

State Road 281 (Avalon Boulevard) - from south of Admiral Road to State Road (S.R.) 10 (U.S. 90)
  • Improvements for segment five include: Reconstruction of S.R. 281 from a two lane rural roadway to a four-lane urban roadway. Additional improvements will include construction of storm drain improvements, a storm water pond, sidewalks, mast arm signal systems at Avalon Boulevard and Mulat/Commerce Road, emergency signal at S.R. 281 and Carroll Road, and S.R. 281 and S.R. 10 (U.S. 90). The improvements will also include signing and pavement markings and minor side road improvements.

  • Estimated completion: winter 2012
  • Contractor: Panhandle Grading & Paving, Inc.
State Road 281 (Avalon Boulevard) - from a point north of CSX R/R Bridge a point south of Commerce Road
  • Improvements under this American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project consist of reconstruction and widening the existing two-lane urban/rural roadway to a four-lane urban roadway including: construction of storm drain improvements, a storm water retention pond, sidewalks, a mast arm signal system at Avalon Boulevard and Cyanamid Road, signing and pavement markings, construction of a frontage road on the east side of Avalon Boulevard running from just south of Cactus Drive to just north of Admirals Drive as well as minor side road improvements..
  • Project start date: August 2009
  • Estimated completion: spring 2012
