I-75: Freeway Management System: Sarasota County and Satellite Traffic Management Center

 

This project installs closed-circuit television cameras, dynamic message signs, road weather information systems, highway advisory radio, non-intrusive microwave vehicle detectors, emergency generator back-up system and fiber optics communications cable and transmission equipment for approximately 56 miles along the I-75 corridor starting at the Charlotte/Sarasota County line (approximate mile marker 172) and ending at Sarasota/Manatee County (University Parkway, approximate mile marker 213.

 

Project start date: April 2012

 

Estimated completion: Summer of 2014

 

Contractor is World Fiber Technologies, Inc.

 

Project cost: $21 million

US 41/Tamiami Trail: At Gulf Gate Drive, Bay Acres Avenue, General Spaatz Boulevard; SR 789 (John Ringling Causeway/N. Gulfstream Avenue) at Sunset Drive/Golden Gate Drive; SR 72 (Clark Road) at Beneva Road, Sawyer Road; SR 758 (Bee Ridge Road) at Murdock Avenue, Honore Avenue

 

This project consists of mast arm replacement, repairs and rehabilitation. Mast arm assemblies will include furnishing and installing galvanized steel mast arms, traffic control devices and other equipment and materials used in the construction of signalized intersections.
