I-75: From SR 78 to the Charlotte County line

 

This project expands I-75 to six lanes.

 

Project start date: August/September 2012

 

Project estimated completion: Fall 2014

 

The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC

 

Project cost: $17.4 million

I-75: From north of SR 80 to south of SR 78

 

This project expands I-75 adding new travel lanes, transition lanes and shoulders. Work also includes widening eight bridges including a major water crossing over the Caloosahatchee River.

 

Project start date: October 2012

 

Project estimated completion: Fall 2015

 

Contractor is The de Moya Group/Leware Construction Company joint venture

 

Project cost: $71.8 million

I-75: From north of Luckett Road to SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard and SR 80 interchange

 

This project expands I-75 to six lanes from Luckett Road to SR 80 and makes improvements at the SR 80 interchange.

 

Project start date: June 2011

 

Project estimated completion: Fall 2013

 

The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries

 

Project cost: $29.2 million

I-75: Airport Direct Connect: From south of the Alico Road interchange (#128) to south of the Daniels Parkway interchange (#131)

 

This project will build a direct connection from I-75 to the Southwest Florida International Airport. The job adds new northbound lanes parallel to I-75 south of the Alico Road interchange and new southbound lanes parallel to I-75 south of the Daniels Parkway interchange. The contractor will construct a bridge over I-75 and Treeline Avenue/Ben Hill Griffin Parkway connecting the interstate to the airport.

 

Project start date: October 2012

 

Project estimated completion: Spring 2015

Project cost: $54 million

US 41: From Corkscrew Road to San Carlos Boulevard

 

This project widens the roadway and bridge from four to six lanes including paved shoulders and sidewalk, makes roadway drainage improvements, and installs landscaping.

 

Project start date: January 2011

 

Project estimated completion: Summer 2013

 

The contractor is Russell Engineering, Inc.

 

Project cost: $14.2 million

SR 739/Metro Parkway: From Winkler Avenue to Hanson Street

 

The improvements under this contract will build a bridge and crossover to connect Metro Parkway and Fowler Street. The bridge will be build north of Winkler Avenue and Westwood/Westchase Apartments. Crews will also build new roadway, add lanes to the existing road, and also resurface sections of existing roadway. Improvements to Metro Parkway also include four-foot designated bike lanes and sidewalk on both sides of the road. Work also includes adding new traffic signals, street lighting and building a drainage system to manage stormwater running off the roadway. At the job’s conclusion, drivers will enjoy three lanes northbound on the Metro Parkway corridor from Winkler Avenue across the Edison Bridge.

Project cost: $22 million

SR 867/McGregor Boulevard from south of West College Point Drive to just south of Dean Way and from south of Argyle Drive to just north of Davis Drive

 

Work is underway to construct new sidewalk on the east side of the roadway from West College Point Drive to Wilson Avenue and on the west side from Travers Avenue to south of Dean Way.

 

Project start date: April 2013

 

Project estimated completion: Fall of 2013

 

The Contractor is Guymann Construction of Florida, Inc.

 

Project cost: $515, 000

SR 82 from east of Ortiz Avenue to south of Lee Boulevard

 

Crews are adding pavement markings along SR 82 and near the intersecting side

 

The project is estimated for completion in summer 2013. The Contractor is AKCA, Inc.

The contractor is Empower Construction, Inc.

 

Project cost: $776,000

SR 78/Pine Island Road from US 41Business to north Evalena Lane

 

Crews continue to install highway lighting.

The contractor is Traffic Control Devices, Inc.

 

Project cost: $286,000

SR 78/Pine Island Road from west of Santa Barbara Boulevard to west of Del Prado Boulevard

 

Crews continue to resurface the road, adding turn lanes, bike lanes, and constructing new driveways.

 

Project start date: April 2013

 

Project estimated completion: Fall of 2013

 

The contractor is Community Asphalt Corporation

 

Project cost: $2.3 million

 

SR 78/Pine Island Road from west of Burnt Store Road to west of Chiquita Boulevard

 

Work is underway to widen the roadway from two to four lanes, add a four-foot paved bike lane and build stormwater ponds and roadside swales.

 

Project start date: July 2013

 

Project estimated completion: Fall of 2014
