Local Agency Program

The Production Support Office is in the process of developing a comprehensive training plan that will include information for all areas that the LAP impacts.

Computer Based Training

Local Agency Program training is available via computer based training (CBT). This CBT consists of 3 lessons common to all FDOT and Local Agency personnel. Topics include, certification, project selection and LAP Agreements.

The LAP Professional Services computer based training contains two parts. The first part of the training provides an overview of the critical Federal and State requirements that a Local Agency’s professional services process must comply with in order to be eligible for federal reimbursement. The second part of the training provides an overview of the reviews that must be conducted and the documentation that must be submitted to demonstrate compliance.

The National Highway Institute (NHI) has several training courses available, many of which are free of charge. This link is to their training catalog listing. The Introducing Highway Federal-Aid, Real Estate Acquisition Under the Uniform Act: An Overview, Local Public Agency Real Estate Acquisition, and Introduction to NEPA and Transportation Decision-making, courses are particularly beneficial to the Local Agency Program community. Each of these courses are free of charge.
