Production Support

The Architectural Services unit in the Design Office is responsible for architectural design and construction issues dealing with buildings, bridges and roads. Our projects must meet the Architectural Standards listed in Chapter 23 of the CADD Production Criteria Handbook.

We manage the optional Architectural Services Contract for fixed capital outlay projects. This contract is available to all districts on an as-needed basis.

We maintain Facilities Design Manual, architectural standards for bascule bridges, Rest Areas and other building facilities.

The Department understands the impact buildings have on our environment whether it's from construction waste, construction material by-products or the impacts of energy consumption. As a result, the FDOT will strive to maximize debris diverted from landfills, increase the use of locally manufactured products, reuse or recycle materials and design and construct energy efficient buildings. To this end FDOT will use the United States Green Building Councils (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building program for new building construction and renovations as the basis for design and construction. All FDOT new building construction and renovation projects will strive for LEED certification.

The architectural team is available to do plans reviews and consultations for any type of FDOT project.
