  1. Traffic Safety Trends: State Legislative Action 2012 - This report summarizes and examines 2012 state laws addressing safety issues, including occupant protection, distracted driving, driver licensing, impaired driving, aggressive driving, speed limits, motorcycle helmets, automated enforcement, school bus safety, and pedestrian and bicycle safety.
  2. The Effect of Public-Private Partnerships and Non-Traditional Procurement Processes on Highway Planning, Environmental Review, and Collaborative Decision Making - This report assesses the interplay between the use of public-private partnerships (P3s) and the transportation and environmental planning processes in order to identify how and when P3s should be considered.
  3. A New Alignment: Strengthening America’s Commitment to Passenger Rail - This report examines key trends of passenger rail in America today. It assesses national rail travel trends over time, looking at passenger data since 1997; disaggregates those national passenger statistics to uncover the specific metropolitan areas generating the majority of travel; analyzes routes based on their length, examining both ridership and financial performance; and synthesizes these findings into a series of federal implications and implementable recommendations for policymakers.
  4. Underground Engineering for Sustainable Urban Development (Signin required)- This report summarizes current geological and geotechnical engineering knowledge about underground development in the urban environment and how utilization of underground could increase sustainability, and identifies the research needed to capitalize on opportunities for enhancing sustainable urban development through underground engineering.
