  1. Infrastructure 2012: Spotlight on Leadership - This report highlights examples of infrastructure leadership, exploring how six u.s. regions are approaching infrastructure in the new economy. It also examines key trends influencing infrastructure globally and reviews the massive projects underway in the rapidly urbanizing and developing countries of china, India, and Brazil.
  2. Teen Driver Risk in Relation to Age and Number of Passengers - This report examines the correlation between teen driver exposure to safety risks and the number of passengers they carry as well as the age of their passengers.
  3. Climate Adaptation & Transportation: Identifying Information and Assistance Needs - This report summarizes the presentations, discussions and recommendations from a workshop held in November 2011. It identifies the critical support needs of surface transportation professionals as they adapt their practices to climate change and shifting trends in extreme weather and focuses on assessing the operational needs of transportation practitioners for evaluating and implementing adaptation measures and how the climate science community can help meet various needs.
  4. Transportation Energy for the Future - This resource explores issues such as:
    • The economic price tag of relying on a single fuel source;
    • The current and forecast trends regarding oil imports and domestic production;
    • The challenges of biofuel production, new technologies, current production and future forecasts;
    • Natural gas as a growing and relatively inexpensive transportation fuel;
    • Diesel technology and energy efficiency;
    • Electric vehicle technology; and
    • Effective state policy options for increasing domestic fuel production and promoting fuel diversity.
    The report aims to provide state policymakers and others with an overview of the many options available as they work toward the long-term transportation energy solutions that tap local resources, develop new industries, and shield their economies from the vicissitudes of the international oil market.
  5. Transportation and the New Generation: Why Young People Are Driving Less and What It Means for Transportation Policy - This report documents the many ways in which young people are changing their transportation behavior and their desires for the future.
  6. Concept of Operations for the Administration of Mileage-Based User Fees in a Multistate Environment - This report examines, through case studies, the potential and challenges of the mileaged-based user fee system as a revenue source to support the nation's transportation system.
  7. Rural Communities: Expanding Horizons - This white paper advocates expansion of public transportation to small urban and rural areas.
  8. Miscellaneous Reports
    • How Would Proposed Fuel Economy Standards Affect the Highway Trust Fund? - This report estimates the impact of the proposed CAFE standards on the nation's Highway Trust Fund over a 30 year period. It lays out several options for policymakers to consider to minimize the impact.
    • Mapping Large Truck Rollovers 2012 Report (Available upon request)- This report identifies dense concentrations of large truck rollovers using historical crash data from 2001 to 2009. This analysis demonstrates that a geographic database of large truck rollover events can be created to identify locations where large truck rollovers frequently occur.
    • Proactive Assessment of Accident Risk to Improve Safety on a System of Freeways - This report describes the development and evaluation of real-time crash risk-assessment models for four freeway corridors. The models are based on a binary classification approach, with traffic parameters measured at surrounding vehicle detection station locations as the independent variables. The analysis techniques used in this study are logistic regression and classification trees.
