The Transportation Statistics Office (TranStat) has produced the following handbooks to provide a comprehensive description of the roadway data stored in the Department’s Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) database and explain how to retrieve data from the database. The handbooks also include standards and guidelines for those District Offices responsible for collecting general interest roadway data, entering it into the database, and how to perform quality assurance edits on the database, including how to generate Straight-line Diagrams (SLDs) for roadways on and off the state highway system (SHS).

Products

• RCI Features and Characteristics Handbook describes the portion of the Florida Department of Transportation's RCI system maintained by the TranStat. The RCI elements that serve to define the roadway include components referred to as Features and Characteristics.
• RCI Planning Data Handbook covers RCI reports, RCI security, RCI edits, advanced RCI concepts, and data collection procedures.
• RCI User manual instructs users how to use, view, update, and delete RCI data in the RCI database.
• SLD Handbook provides information on the Straight-line Diagram (SLD), what it contains, how to generate it, and other related information.
