The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is excited to announce the 2014 Florida Transportation Data Symposium in Orlando, Florida on October 23-24, 2014 at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld.

FDOT and its partners currently collect and report on a variety of transportation data to accomplish business objectives, such as roadway performance, condition, and inventory. The data are multimodal, covering highway, aviation, rail, seaport, transit, and walking and biking. The data are used for a variety of business functions including asset management, performance measurement, planning, operations (including traveler information), maintenance, and preservation of the multimodal transportation system.

The purpose of the Data Symposium is to bring together public and private transportation data providers to share knowledge regarding data needs, availability, and methods for sharing and integrating data to provide optimum value and use by FDOT and its partners. The outcome will be the development of a vision for Florida to maximize public/private partnerships related to data acquisition, integration, management and dissemination. Several follow up initiatives including more forums and demos will be identified.
