SIS Phase 1 - Public Involvement Activities

During Phase 1, the Steering Committee and FDOT staff conducted extensive public outreach to gather public input on the SIS goal and principles, designation criteria and thresholds, and the facilities that met these criteria and thresholds and were proposed for designation. These included 15 public workshops involving 557 participants; briefings to metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and other representatives of transportation stakeholders representing all modes of travel in all regions of the state; and coordination with various state government agencies that have an interest in the state's transportation system and economic development.
