Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), Central Station (MCS)

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) submitted an application for the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC), Central Station (MCS) project for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Grant funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The MCS is the last transportation element of the $1.5 billion MIC Program. However, due to the unprecedented revenue reductions the FDOT has experienced over the past three years, the MCS project is no longer funded in the Department's Five Year Adopted Work Program.

Award of a TIGER Grant will allow the MCS to proceed without delay and afford the residents and visitors alike the mobility benefits of a fully integrated intermodal transportation passenger hub. In addition, the short and long term economic benefits of the project (as well as related projects) will be realized sooner creating the economic stimulus intended by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Without TIGER Grant assistance, completion of the MCS could be delayed for several years despite the fact that it is a "shovel ready" project.
