Who We Are and What We Do Our Mission: The
Office of Design leads, guides and supports the design community to deliver
innovative transportation solutions. The Office of Design consists of 150+ people in six offices dedicated to the production of the plans and specifications necessary to implement the Department of Transportation's Work Program. Engineering/CADD Systems The Engineering/CADD Systems Office procures, develops and supports software applications used by the Department's engineering community. We also provide training in the use of our CADD products. Production Support Provides production support to the Office of Design as well as management and guidance for the Department’s Value Engineering program, Local Agency Program, Project Management. Roadway Design Develops and provides policies, procedures, training, and criteria and standards for the design of Florida Roadways. Specifications and Estimates Maintains and publishes the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and the Basis of Estimates Manual and is responsible for DOT's project estimating software and cost history information. Structures Design Provides design guidance and technical assistance for structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical issues related to structural design and construction. Surveying and Mapping Provides aerial surveying and geographic mapping services in support of Florida's transportation system. Links |
