State Environmental Management Office Overview

The role of the FDOT State Environmental Management Office (EMO) is to develop and ensure the implementation of quality environmental policies, procedures and practices in the development of transportation improvements through each of the Department's core processes: plan, produce, deliver and maintain. Establish policy and procedures to ensure implementation of environmental programs and initiatives of the Department. Coordinate with federal and state environmental resource and regulatory agencies in the development and implementation of environmental processes and procedures consistent with environmental laws and regulations to assist the Department in achieving its mission.

Our Vision:

Environmental management and project development principles are integrated into all programs and functional areas of the Department in support of the overall goals of the state. Transportation improvements and programs are planned, developed, and implemented in a holistic approach that balances natural and physical environmental values.

It is the mission of the Environmental Management Office to protect and enhance a sustainable human and natural environment while developing safe, cost effective, and efficient transportation systems.
