How can I get the FileChecker application without installing the entire FDOT software suite?
A:
Download the FileChecker zip file and unzip to a folder of your choosing. For users with the FDOT software suite, please unzip to the FDOT2004\win32\FileChecker folder found on your local workstation.

Download FileChecker

How do I create a complete report when using FileChecker?
A:
On the "Reports" tab of FileChecker, the user can select which sections of the report to include. Sections are included by default, when each section is processed (The main tabs are selected).

Note: You cannot go straight to the "Reports" tab and select everything. Filechecker will appear to work but not all reports are processed (This will change in a future release).

Use this procedure to produce a complete FileChecker report:
  1. Open a project
  2. Select each tab:
    • Directory Structure
    • Project Files
    • MicroStation Files
    • Sheet Info
    • Pedds Files

Note: The “File Distribution” and “File Search” tabs are not required.

  3. Select the "Reports" tab and make sure each section is selected before selecting "Create".
Regarding QC Reports, if there is a note in your File Checker report, "Failed to process file" right before the "Critical Files" this means no QC reports were processed (or found).

QC Reports must be in ".txt" format and must have the following Title, in order to be processed.

"GDM Software QC Summary Status Report"

How can I add comments to the FileChecker report?
A:
Run FileChecker and select the project. Advance to the appropriate tab and double-click any file item in any list. A dialog will open and you may enter comments. The comments are written to FileChecker.cmt, by default in the project’s root folder. Comments appear in the FileChecker report directly below the referenced file item
