The PEDDS Main WindowThe PEDDS main window can be separated into 6 separate areas: the menu, the toolbar, the current project display, the folder view, the file view, and the signatory picker.
PEDDS Main Menu
The main menu is one of the chief ways that an individual controls PEDDS functionality. From here, an engineer can create, secure, and authenticate projects, create signatories, sign and seal files, and change PEDDS options.
The toolbar is a way to quickly utilize common PEDDS functionality. The buttons are, from left to right, Create New Project, Open Existing Project, Secure Active Project, Authenticate Active Project, Create New Signatory, Sign and Seal Documents, Authenticate Signed and Sealed Documents, Delete Signatory, and Help Contents.
Current Project Display
This area of the PEDDS main interface displays the name of the currently open project as well as the folder currently open in the folder/file views. The project name will usually be the project's FPID number. This display will, of course, change if you load up a different project or change folders within the current project.
PEDDS Folder Views
There are two tabs in the folder view which reflect the physical folder structure of the project. One shows all the folders of the project and the other shows only the folders that contain files.
The index view is a special case. In the index view, a user can view files according to their sheet index designation. This helps when trying to find a specific file quickly. The sheet index for a project is created by a separate application, not by the PEDDS Client.
When a folder or index designation is clicked upon, the file view updates with all of the files in the folder clicked, or all files fitting the selected sheet index designation just clicked.
PEDDS File Views
There are four different file views in the PEDDS Client. The "All Files" view shows all of the files in current folder (clicked on in the folder view above). The "Signed Files" view shows all files that have been signed by a signatory in the current folder. The "Unsigned Files" view shows all files that have not been signed in the current folder.
The PEDDS Client File View has several descriptive columns. The File Name shows the file name and file extension of the file. The Signatory column lists the names of any signatory or signatories that have signed a file. The Qualifier column lists any notes written for the file by a signatory, however these are only available to the signatory who wrote them. The Signed/Selected column shows the date and time that the file was last signed. The File Last Modified column shows the date and time of the last modification to the file's contents. The "Sheet Index" and the "Project Index Description" contain Sheet Index information for the file, if it exists.
The Signatory Picker
The Signatory Picker displays the signatory who is currently allowed to sign and seal documents on the currently open project. That is, if a user selects a file for signing and sealing, the signatory who will sign and seal the file is the one currently displayed in the signatory picker. A user can change signatories by clicking the down arrow on the right of the picker to display all available signatories. If a user chooses a different signature, then they will be prompted for the signatory's password. After correctly entering in the signatory password, the user will be able to sign and seal files for the new signatory.
