1.2 - Prepare Plotters
Task Description:
This section will walk through the process of setting up the printers/plotters.
Civil 3D uses the Autodesk plotting engine and utilizes the PC3 file to control where plots will be placed. In the FDOT templates that have been supplied the origin is the bottom left corner of the paper. More than likely, margins have been specified by your hardware drivers or defined by some other means which usually leads to the sheets being offset incorrectly.
The intent of this section is to create new PC3 files specifically designed to plot our Civil 3D data with the FDOT border correctly placed. The result will be the ability to plot the FDOT sheets in the same location on the paper regardless of the manufacturer or the driver for the printer/plotter.
By setting up your plotters with the origin at the bottom of the paper any user receiving the drawing will be able to get the same results as the original user.
So the procedures for setting up the plotters are in the following steps.
