Open the ALGNRD##.DWG if it is not already opened.
If the drawing has not yet been created use the FDOT Create/Edit Application to create the ALGNRD##.DWG file.
If geometry is not already provided construct the alignment geometry graphically. An alignment can be created from a polyline or it can be constructed with the Alignment Layout Tools.
Creating an alignment from a polyline:
Ribbon Home tab > Create Design panel > Alignment drop-down > Create Alignment from Objects.
Select the polyline in the drawing.
In the Create Alignment from Objects dialog box, input an[alignment name], type, and specify the [starting station]for the alignment.

Specify any otherparameters under the General tab and then click on the Design Criteria tab.
Set the Design Speed, toggle On the Use Criteria-based design and Use Design Criteria File.
Specify the Design Criteria File.
NOTE: By default this file will be located here: C:\FDOT2012.C3D\Data\Corridor Design Standarads\FDOTGreenBook_2007 for C3D2012.xml
Access the Alignment Layout tools toolbar by defining the General and Design Criteria in the Create Alignment - Layout dialog and select OK.
NOTE: Be sure to use the FDOT Greenbook Design Criteria file in the Design Criteria tab. By default this file will be located here: C:\FDOT2012.C3D\Data\Corridor Design Standarads\FDOTGreenBook_2007 for C3D2012.xml
Utilize the various tools to construct the alignment.
