Step Description:
This step is necessary in order to create a Civil 3D Point Group that contains only Ground shots to use in the creation of the surface.
- Toolspace > Prospector tab > expand [drawing name] > expand Point Groups > right-click _Points to display > Properties
In Properties dialog open the Query Builder tab
Check the Modify query box
For the Property choose Point.CgPoint.DTMAttribute
Set Operator to (=)
Set Value to [ground]
Select Apply > OK
Regen the drawing: type re in the command line.

If all the same points are displayed in the drawing then the _No Points default query builder will also have to be modified. To modify _No Points:
- Right-click > _No Points > Properties > Query Builder tab
Check Modify query
For the Property choose Name
Set Operator to (=)
Set value to [*]
Select Apply > OK
Regen the drawing
Now only the single points remaining will be brought into the surface
