2.4.3 - Resolve Crossing Breaklines
Step Description:

Begin by locating all crossing breaklines.

  • Ribbon Analyze tab > Ground Data panel > Resolve Crossing Breaklines

  • In the Command window specify the type of breaklines wanted e.g. [database, figure, or surface].

  • If crossing breaklines are present you will be prompted with the Crossing Breaklines Panorama dialog.

  • Utilize the Zoom To option to locate all crossing breaklines.

NOTE: If surface breaklines are edited there will be no connection between the figures in the drawing and the survey database.

  • For minor adjustments in breaklines the Trim tool, provided in the Crossing Breaklines Panorama, should be utilized.

To edit crossing figures begin by removing the portion of the figures that are crossing.
  • Select one of the intersecting figures > right-click figure > Edit Survey Figure Properties.

  • In the Figure Properties dialog locate the point, on the figure, directly before the crossing.

  • Highlight this point in the Figure Properties dialog and create a break at this location by selecting the Break tool.

NOTE: When breaking the figures you will be prompted to insert a new name. Any name will do. Document this name as it will be needed later.

  • Repeat these steps to remove the remaining figure.
  • In the Survey toolspace right-click the Figure Group to which the previous figures belonged > select Properties and locate the Figures which were removed (document figures from step 3).

  • In the Add to Group column check Yes for each Figure > OK.
  • Re-insert the figures into the drawing
  • Survey toolspace > Figure Groups > right-click corresponding Figure Group > Insert into drawing.

NOTE: The figures will now be displayed with incorrect symbology, this is OK.
  • The re-inserted figures should still be crossing. To remove the intersection delete the first point in each of the figures.

  • Select figure to be edited > right-click Edit Survey Figure Properties > in the Figure Properties dialog choose beginning point > click delete.

  • From here the figures can be joined to the correct partner using the Join tool in the Figure Properties dialog.

  • When prompted to delete figures select Yes.
