Myths and Facts About People with Disabilities
|
|
Easter Seals.com, June 24,
2012 |
|
Myth 13: There
is nothing one person can do to help eliminate the barriers
confronting people with disabilities. Fact: Everyone can
contribute to change. You can help remove barriers by: (1)
Accepting people with disabilities as individuals capable of
the same needs and feelings as yourself, and hiring
qualified disabled persons whenever possible; (2)
Understanding the need for accessible parking and leaving it
for those who need it; (3) Encouraging participation of
people with disabilities in community activities by using
accessible meeting and event sites. |

Why
Facebook Matters to CIOs
|
|
Wall Street Journal. Michael
Hicks, June 23, 2012 |
|
Facebook and
its 900 million (and counting) members are impossible to
ignore, although many CIOs try — half, by some estimates,
going so far as to ban it from their corporate networks.
But according to Charlene Li, an analyst with Altimeter
Group, “people go on Facebook to get work done, they go on
Facebook to get expertise. If I have a well-developed
network on Facebook, it’s just another channel for
networking and getting work done.” |

MCAT public safety policy enjoys great success as seniors
take to free bus rides
|
|
Bradenton Herald Editorial, June 20, 2012 |
|
Some public safety measures
sound simple enough but reap big dividends once implemented.
That's the case wi September, nobody could have predicted the
outcome. Ridership soared as seniors took advantage of the
offer, parked their cars and kept our streets a bit safer.
This is a tremendous public safety program that too few
Florida transit systems offer. Jacksonville provides free
bus service to seniors age 60 and older. Miami-Dade offers
county residents 65 years and over free transit with a
Golden Passport card. |
