FDOT Construction Specification 400-16.1, requires Contractors to determine the evaporation rate of moisture coming off horizontal concrete surfaces during initial curing. This has been done in the past by using an ACI nomograph to graphically determine the evaporation rate given the following weather conditions: air temperature, relative humidity, concrete temperature and wind speed. There is now a second method available for making this determination and it is an internet based calculator that can be used to automatically compute the evaporation rate by entering each weather condition value.
