Audubon's Crested Caracara Caracara cheriway audubonii Nesting season - November 1 to June 30 No activity within 300 meters (985 feet) of an active nest. Construction allowed to operate between 985 feet and 1500 feet with monitoring by a qualified FDOT approved professional. Additional restrictions may apply.
Florida Sandhill Crane Grus canadensis pratenis Nesting season - January 1 to July 31 No activity within 400' of an active nesting site. Work may be possible with monitoring for approved projects.
Wood Stork Mycteria americana Nesting season - October 1 to March 31 No activity within 1000' of an active nest site. Wetland impacts within foraging zone must be mitigated.
Florida Scrub Jay Aphelocoma coerulescens Nesting season - March 1 to June 30 No work within 1000' of an active nest. Work may be possible with monitoring for approved projects.
Florida Burrowing Owl Aphelocoma coerulescens Nesting season- Feb. 15 to July 10 but they use the burrows year round No activity while bird is in the area. No activity with in 1000' of an active nest. Work may be possible with monitoring for approved projects.
Sherman's Fox Squirrel Sciurus niger shermani Nests may be active year round No clearing activity within 125' of an active nest site. na
American Crocodile Crocodylus actus Nesting Season - April 1 to August 31 Monitoring in suitable habitat must begin 2 weeks prior to April and continue through the nesting season. No work is to occur within 300' of a nest. No construction activity when a American Crocodile is in or adjacent to the project limits. Activity may resume when he crocodile has left on its own accord. Report crocodile sightings to the Project Administrator immediately. The PA will then report the sighting to the Environmental Liaison.
Sea Turtle (various species) Varies Nesting season- May 1 to October 31 Severe lighting restrictions near nesting sites during laying and hatching seasons. No blasting within 500' of a sea turtle. No operation of equipment within 50' of turtle. Warning signs and tangle free erosion control measures in the water. No wake zone.
Eastern Indigo Snake Drymarchon corais couperi na No construction activity when an Eastern Indigo Snake is in the project limits. Activity may resume when the snake has left on its own accord. Standard FDOT education and protection measures. See referenced website.
Gopher Tortoise Gopherus polyphemus na No construction activity when a Gopher Tortoise is in the project limits. Activity may resume when the tortoise has left on its own accord. No activity within 25' of a tortoise burrow. Silt fence placed between burrow and project. No destruction of burrow allowed. See referenced website.
Sand Skink & Blue Tailed Mole Skink Neoseps reynoldsi & Eumeces egregius lividus na No construction activity when an endangered skink is in or adjacent to the project limits. Activity may resume when the skink has left on its own accord. Report endangered skink sightings to the project administrator immediately. The PA will then report the sighting to the Environmental Liaison.
Florida Panther Puma concolor coryi na No construction activity when a Florida Panther is in or adjacent to the project limits. Activity may resume when the panther has left on its own accord. Report panther sightings to the Project Administrator immediately. The PA will then report the sighting to the Environmental Liaison.
Florida Black Bear Ursus americanus floridanus na No construction activity when a Florida Black Bear is in or adjacent to the project limits.
