APO Data System
This Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Aviation Policy and Plans (APO) website provides efficient access to historical traffic counts, forecasts of aviation activity, and delay statistics, and analytical tools:

  • Air Traffic Activity Data System (ATADS) - is the official source of historical air traffic operations for center, airport, instrument and approach counts. Daily, monthly and annual counts are available either by facility, state, region, or nationally. Some ranking tables are also available.
  • Terminal Area Forecast (TAF) System - is the official forecast of aviation activity at FAA facilities. This includes FAA towered airports, federal-contracted towered airports, non-federal towered airports, and many non-towered airports. Detailed forecasts are developed for the major users of the National Aviation System large air carriers, air taxi/commuters, general aviation, and military. These forecasts have been prepared to meet the budget and planning needs of the constituent units of the FAA and to provide information which can be used by state and local authorities, the aviation industry, and the general public.

Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS)
This U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) website is authorized by the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA 21). BTS' data collection programs for aviation and motor carrier information are mandatory data collection programs. Previously, BTS established itself with a focus in three key areas, mandated by legislation: (1) compiling, analyzing, and publishing a comprehensive set of transportation statistics; (2) making statistics readily accessible; and (3) implementing a long term data collection program. Now the agency is beginning to expand its role - to improve transportation data, to address the information needs of decision makers, and to advance the effective use of data for decision-making.

Transportation Research Board (TRB)
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) is a unit of the National Research Council, a private, non-profit institution that is the main operating agency of the National Academy of Science and National Academy of Engineering. TRB’s mission is to promote innovation and progress in transportation by stimulating and conducting research, facilitating the dissemination of information, and encouraging implementation of research results. TRB fulfills this mission through the work of its standing technical committees and task forces that address all modes and aspects of transportation; publication and dissemination of reports and technical papers on research findings; administration of contract research programs; conduct of special studies on transportation policy issues at the request of the U.S. Congress and government agencies; operation of an on-line computerized file of transportation research information; and more.
