    Highway Safety Grant Program
The Highway Safety Grant Section administers various traffic safety behavioral (non-construction) grant programs, primarily the State and Community Highway Safety (Section 402) Grant Program.

This federally-funded program is authorized nationally under Section 402, Title 23 U.S.C., and in Florida by Section 334.044(25) Florida Statutes, and Rule 14-98 Florida Administrative Code.  In addition to Section 402 funding, Section 157, 163, 405, 410, and 411 grants are administered through the Highway Safety Grant section.   Grant funds are provided to state and local safety-related agencies (law enforcement, public health, engineering, etc.) as ?seed? money to either start-up new safety programs or enhance existing ones in various traffic safety areas.

    Industrial Safety Program
Industrial (worker) Safety is the development of safety and health procedures and safe work practices designed to enhance the working environment of all FDOT employees, control unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, and reduce or eliminate the occurrence of work-related accidents, and minimize employee injuries.

    Transportation Safety Engineering Program
Transportation Safety Engineering involves the engineering features that prevent drivers from conflicting on the roadway, reduce roadway problems that lead to traffic crashes, and give clear information to assist drivers to make safe driving decisions.

    Pedestrian and Bicycle Program
The Florida Pedestrian and Bicycle Program works in many areas to promote safe walking and bicycling in Florida. The program develops initiatives and programs to improve the environment for safe, comfortable, and convenient walking and bicycling trips and to improve the performance and interaction among motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

    Community Traffic Safety Teams
Florida's Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) are locally based groups of highway safety advocates who are committed to solving traffic safety problems through a comprehensive, multi-jurisdictional, multi-disciplinary approach.  The CTSTs address traffic safety on local streets and roadways (non state roads).  The Department actively supports the CTSTs, with each District having a CTST Coordinator who works closely with the Teams in their geographic area.
