  Description / Target Audience This 12-hour course is an overview of the general techniques and strategies for designing and implementing Public Involvement Plans and Community Awareness Plans. The target audience includes FDOT and consultant staff in all phases including planning, environment, design, construction, maintenance, and traffic operations with responsibilities related to public involvement and public engagement.  The course covers legal and department requirements for public involvement, preparing a plan, identifying stakeholders, outreach tools and techniques, public meeting/hearing logistics, conflict resolution, and documentation.

Description / Target Audience

This is a 1.5 day course aimed at providing participants with an overall understanding of the basics of highway traffic noise and how to incorporate noise abatement measures into the highway construction plans for a project.   The course is designed to provide participants with an overall understanding of the various factors and attributes of highway traffic noise, how a noise study is conducted, and how this information is used during the development and construction of a highway project.  The course will provide participants with practical information about the fundamentals of traffic noise and traffic noise abatement.  It is expected that participants will exit the course with an understanding of the steps required during the design process that an engineer will need to follow to ensure that any noise abatement commitments developed during the PD&E phase will be implemented and re-evaluated (if applicable) during the design and construction of the project.

the requirements of 4(f) to their P, D, & E Process and to complete the 4(f) Evaluations. This course has 12 PDHs associated with it.

  Description / Target Audience This course will familiarize participants with the FGDL, including a description and review of the information and data contained; understanding how the data is organized; and how to retrieve, display, and use the information to generate maps or reports. The course will also explain basic GIS concepts and skills using ArcView software. Users with little or no knowledge of ArcGIS and/or FGDL, ETDM/EST users (including consultants). This course is FREE - Priority given to DOT staff and then consultants based on space. We will accept 15-20 people for this training.
